Target audience research….yep, continually getting to know the people in your target and giving them what they want will make or break your money making career online. Often times when I speak with people wanting to make money online about target audience research I can sense their eyes glazing over and asking themselves in their minds “what in the world does target audience research have to do with making money online; can’t I just post some links and watch the money flow in?”. Yes, you sure can but if you want your profits to be sustainable it all starts with understanding the clear demand of the audience you plan to serve and catering to their needs and wants.

So if you’re wondering “how can I easily come to know my target audience better?” I recommend starting off with being deliberate with your efforts. In other words take the party directly to your audience online. Having the internet at the tip of our fingers makes this process much easier. For example in just a few short minutes you could go to www.facebook.com and start up conversations directly with people in your audience along with join groups to participate in. In just a few short hours as you talk with people on facebook you could get answers to questions that some advertising companies spend thousands of dollars on learning. Things like what your audience prefers to see, what products they’ve paid for, what they did or didn’t like about those products, what frustrates them the most, what challenges they face as it relates to the product or service you plan on selling and much more.

One major tip to keep in mind as you talk with people is first come to know them and then sell, not the other way around. What do you think would happen if you ask the first person off the road to marry you? They probably would slapped you and run the other direction. Most of us don’t like being slapped, so let’s get to know people first and then share a solution or pop the question of considering buying something from you!

As you continually come to know your audience you’ll discover things that you may never have though of. Take the facts you gather and then customize a solution that you can present to your audience and ask them to consider it. As you do this you can rest assure that your business can stay on the right track in the future.
