Quick notes to review from today’s video
How to remove the Avada theme demo data:
Removing the demo data is a pretty simply process of doing, but you’ll want to be aware of some of the not so common data to remove so you can clean up your site. Be sure to look at your post categories and tags, along with your product tags and categories and delete the unneeded demo data that was ported over in our step 3 training video.
How to set up the major pages of your website:
The major pages as I show you in the video training will consist of the Home, About, FAQ’s, Shop, and Contact pages. I also show you how to add sub-menus to your navigation bar which appear as drop-down menus.
How to set up your navigation menu:
Setting up your navigation menus and mapping them or assigning them to their locations makes it easy for customers to navigate your ecommerce site. Be sure to think about the most important pages to present on your primary navigation menu and then follow the instructions on the training video to learn how exactly to build and display your menus.
How to use the top payment processors to accept payment from your customers:
The top payment processors that I cover in today’s video training are PayPal and Stripe. I explain the differences between the two and why you would want to consider using either one of them and the costs associated with using their service. PayPal and Stripe are both free to use, but their are transaction costs which are the exact same as well at 2.9% + .30 cents per transaction. This means for a $100 order you would pay a total of $3.20 to them and you keep the rest. I teach you how as well on how to get started using them inside of your WooCommerce store system on your ecommerce WordPress site. Also, be aware that if you use Stripe, as I indicate in the training video, that you’ll need to purchase an SSL – security certificate, from GreenGeeks which is only $50 one time each year. That will allow you to accept payment from people directly on your website without having your customer routed to a 3rd party processor such as PayPal to place their order.
How to use WordPress plugins and the do’s and don’t of using them:
Anytime you want your WordPress ecommerce site to do something or behave a certain way the answer to your question is usually going to be found in using a plugin. There are plugins for all types of situations you are wanting to accomplish. So today’s video training walks you through on how to use plugins properly, how to install and activate them, what to look for before you installing them and a few other great tips.
